Seoul, en.SERU.co.id – Park Geon Roung, the child performer who appeared in Pinkfong’s 2016 “Baby Shark Dance” video, is set to release his first digital single under the stage name Baby Shark Boy. The track, titled WAVE, arrives on August 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. KST.
The Pinkfong Company announced the project on August 10, 2026. The Korean-language song features a rap contribution from Joohoney of Monsta X. Park Geon Roung is credited as a co-writer of the lyrics.
“I’ve always been grateful that people still remember a video I appeared in as a kid. Ten years ago, I was dancing next to Baby Shark. Now, I wanted to share my own voice and a story I wrote myself,” Park said in a statement released by the company.
Background of the Viral Video and New Project
Park Geon Roung was born on September 1, 2008. He was seven years old when he appeared alongside Elaine Kim Johnston in the “Baby Shark Dance” video uploaded on June 17, 2016. Hope Segoine provided the vocals for the song. The clip has accumulated more than 17 billion views and held the position of YouTube’s most-watched video for 69 consecutive months.
The Pinkfong Company described the release as its first artist project rather than a conventional K-pop idol debut. A company representative told The Korea Herald that the company will decide on future activities based on the single’s response. The company added that the project aims to connect the Baby Shark intellectual property with the real-life growth of one of its original performers.
