London, en.SERU.co.id — Meghan Markle is maintaining her UK charity role as she and Prince Harry settle into an extended stay in Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, following the family’s arrival in the country last week.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children arrived at Birmingham Airport on a private jet on August 26. The family is staying at a private, non-royal residence outside London while Archie and Lilibet prepare to begin school in Britain. They will retain their home in Montecito, California.

The couple remain non-working members of the royal family and are not expected to resume official royal duties. King Charles was informed of their plans before the move became public and is understood to welcome the opportunity to spend more time with his son and grandchildren in a private capacity.

Meghan Maintains UK Charity Connection

Meghan continues to serve as patron of Smart Works, a UK charity that helps women return to employment through coaching, professional clothing and confidence-building support. She became the charity’s patron in 2019 and has maintained the role since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020. Smart Works continues to list the Duchess of Sussex as one of its patrons.

The return to Britain could allow Meghan to maintain closer links with the charity while managing her other projects. Her lifestyle brand As Ever and Archewell Productions remain connected to the couple’s business activities in the United States.

A source close to Prince Harry told People that the decision to spend more time in Britain was made as a family.

“Step by step, they want to be in the U.K. They want to have the time and give the kids the opportunity to be here.”

Harry Focuses on UK Commitments

Prince Harry is expected to continue his existing charitable work in Britain, including his connections with WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. He is also involved in preparations for the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham.

The family’s return has also renewed public interest in the Sussexes’ relationship with the wider royal family. Recent reports have described the response from Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, as cautious, with no indication of an immediate reconciliation between the brothers.

Harry and Meghan have not publicly announced their exact address or the school attended by their children. The couple are expected to divide their time between Britain and the United States while maintaining their private status outside the working royal family.

The move represents a significant change for the Sussexes, who have lived primarily in California since stepping down from senior royal duties in 2020.
