29 Hours Maintenance Process Continued by Network Normalization
Each SPAM point requires about 29 hours of work time, starting from the removal of the old pump up to testing of the new pump. After that, the process of normalizing the flow to customers’ homes still requires additional time.
The work stages include pump removal on the first day from 4:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. WIB, continued by the deep well stabilization period (steady time) until 9:00 a.m. WIB the next day.
Next, officers carry out well maintenance and inspection of the well hole construction (borehole) at 9:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. WIB, reinstallation of the pump at 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. WIB, as well as road testing and pump operation at 3:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. WIB.
After the pump returns to operation, customers do not immediately receive water flow with normal pressure. The pipeline network that was empty needs to go through a flushing process or the release of air trapped inside the pipes.
Officers will carry out air release through a number of network points, assisted by air release valve devices. The process of filling the network until reaching the farthest areas requires at least five hours. Therefore, customers in farther areas or those with higher elevation have the potential to receive normal flow later.
