Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id – Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (PBNU) Gus Gudfan Arif appreciated the rapid steps of the National Police Chief in responding to public complaints regarding the actions of police officers in law enforcement in Sukoharjo, Central Java.
The appreciation was delivered following the decision of the National Police to remove AKBP Andhika Dharma Sena from the position of Sukoharjo Police Chief and conduct examinations of a number of police members related to the search of Pondok Pesantren Hamalatul Quran.
“We appreciate the National Police Chief who is very responsive and open to suggestions, criticism, as well as public complaints. This step shows that the National Police does not close itself to evaluation, especially in ensuring that the law enforcement process runs professionally and justly,” said Gus Gudfan in Jakarta on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Gus Gudfan also expressed thanks and support to the National Police Chief for the examination steps against the related police officials, including the decision to transfer the Sukoharjo Police Chief to National Police Headquarters to undergo further evaluation and examination.
“We express thanks and support to Mr. National Police Chief who has taken firm steps, including conducting examinations against related officials. This shows the seriousness of the National Police in carrying out internal improvements without ignoring public aspirations,” he said.
According to Gus Gudfan, those steps are a real form of the National Police Chief’s commitment to build a police institution that is increasingly professional, open, and close to the community.
“This is the spirit of the National Police together with the community. The police are present to protect, nurture, and serve the community. When there are complaints, they are listened to. When there are mistakes, they are evaluated. And when there are alleged violations, they are examined according to the rules,” he said.
Gus Gudfan emphasized that evaluation of officers’ actions must not hinder the law enforcement process against criminal acts currently being handled by the police.
According to him, both processes must run side by side. On one side, police officers are obliged to act professionally and respect the rights of the community. On the other side, every alleged criminal act must still be handled objectively according to legal provisions.
“We hope the internal examination process runs transparently and fairly. At the same time, law enforcement against the perpetrators of criminal acts must also continue to run. Whoever is proven guilty must account for their actions according to the law,” he said.

Gus Gudfan also appealed to the community, especially the residents of Sukoharjo, to remain calm, maintain harmony, as well as entrust the law enforcement process to the police.
“We invite the community to remain calm, not easily provoked, as well as give trust and support to the police in completing the ongoing legal process. Do not let this issue instead cause uproar and disrupt community harmony,” he said.
He hoped that the rapid response of the National Police Chief increasingly strengthens public trust in the National Police.
“Public trust is built through real actions. We hope the improvements carried out by Mr. National Police Chief continue so that the National Police becomes increasingly professional, increasingly close to the people, and increasingly trusted by the community,” said Gus Gudfan.
Previously, the National Police officially removed AKBP Andhika Dharma Sena from the position of Sukoharjo Police Chief through National Police Chief Telegram Letter Number ST/2463/XI/KEP./2026 dated November 2, 2026.
AKBP Andhika was transferred to become a Middle Officer of Stamaops Polri. Meanwhile, three other members of the Sukoharjo Police were also deactivated and are undergoing examination by the National Police Propam Division related to alleged code of ethics violations in the search of Pondok Pesantren Hamalatul Quran.
