Surakarta, en.SERU.co.id – The main series of Dhaup Ageng Mangkunegaran began on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The daughter of Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya (K.G.P.A.A) Mangkoenagoro IX, G.R.Aj. Ancillasura Marina Sudjiwo or Gusti Sura, underwent the sungkeman and sengkeran processions as part of preparations ahead of her wedding with K.P.H. F.X. Adimas Rosdian.
The sungkeman procession became a moment for Gusti Sura to seek the blessing of her mother in the presence of the family elders. That blessing becomes provision for the prospective bride in entering married life.
After the sungkeman, Gusti Sura underwent sengkeran in the Keputren environment of Pura Mangkunegaran. This procession becomes a period to step aside briefly, calm the mind, as well as prepare oneself inwardly before undergoing married life.
During the three days of sengkeran, Gusti Sura will be accompanied by the chanting of Macapat songs performed by the nini, namely the elder female retainers of Mangkunegaran. Those songs are chanted without the accompaniment of musical instruments or not.

Spokesperson for Dhaup Ageng, K.P.H. Tjuk Susilo, explained that sengkeran is not only interpreted as seclusion. This tradition also provides an opportunity for the prospective bride to carry out reflection and prepare herself to face new responsibilities in married life.
The Macapat songs that accompany the sengkeran period contain various advice about companionship, harmony, sincerity, as well as good hopes for life together.
Through the sungkeman and sengkeran, the family as well as the guardians of tradition also accompany Gusti Sura toward a new life. Those two processions become the opener of the next series of Dhaup Ageng Mangkunegaran, by placing family blessings and inner preparation as an important part of the wedding journey.
