Citto Eko Yuli, Head of the Road Transport Facilities Section at the East Java Transportation Agency, said all parties agreed to support the modern bus fleet. The full backing aims to promote safer integration of public transport modes for people across the Malang region.

“The results of the discussion meeting were agreed by all parties that in principle they do not reject Trans Jatim. As a form of real compromise, the East Java Transportation Agency ensures a change to the initial departure route of the Trans Jatim Corridor II Bus fleet. The initial plan that placed Type A Arjosari Terminal as the main base center has been officially cancelled, in order to maintain mutual comfort,” Citto said.

He explained that the route diversion was decided so the new buses would not reduce the daily income of existing city transport drivers. While the local Malang drivers accepted the provincial government’s program, they asked for clear guarantees that their established livelihoods would be protected.

The official statement signals that talks among stakeholders have moved forward in a constructive way and that common ground has been found. The shared commitment also shows that the Malang City Government is ready to manage the shift toward better-connected intercity mass transport.

A follow-up forum will be held soon to confirm the new stopping points for Corridor II and to review the stops already operating on Corridor I.

The East Java Provincial Government, through its Transportation Agency, hopes the cross-sector cooperation will help build an inclusive public transport system across Malang Raya. Officials expect the smooth integration of modern buses with conventional city transport to support the daily mobility of residents. The compromise is seen as the most practical way to modernize public transport without leaving local drivers behind.
