Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The Malang City Transportation Agency (Dishub) is currently finalizing plans for the provision of feeder transport for Trans Jatim targeted to begin operations in 2027. This service is prepared to strengthen as well as optimize the Trans Jatim Corridor 2 mass transit service that has been operating since Friday, October 30, 2026, in the Malang area.

Head of the Malang City Transportation Agency, Dr. R. Widjaja Saleh Putra, explained that for the first year of operations in 2027, all financing and technical aspects of the feeder service will be fully borne by the East Java Provincial Government.

“For the first year (2027), the provision of services is fully funded by the provincial budget according to the East Java Provincial Government policy. Subsequently, in the second year, the management and operational scheme will be fully handed over to the Malang City Government,” said Widjaja on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Technically, the feeder routes are designed to comb through residential areas of residents toward the stop points along the Trans Jatim route. With that scheme, public access to modern public transportation is expected to become increasingly easy and affordable in order to untangle urban congestion.

This feeder service will later adapt the city transport or angkot mode through a rejuvenation scheme designed directly by the East Java Provincial Government. The rejuvenation aims to present public transportation in Malang City that is more modern, safe, comfortable, and professionally integrated.

Regarding tariffs, Widjaja mentioned that the policy is still in the study stage by the East Java Provincial Government. Nevertheless, there is a large opportunity that this service will apply a subsidy scheme or even be made free for the public.

“The tariff scheme refers to the success of feeder transport concepts such as Wira-Wiri in Surabaya or JakLingko in Jakarta,” he explained.

On the other hand, the Malang City Transportation Agency is also responding to the dynamics related to the proposal for the extension of the Trans Jatim Corridor 2 route. The majority of Malang City residents have submitted requests so that the route can reach Arjosari Terminal which is the largest transportation mode transfer hub in this area.

Meanwhile, the initial inauguration by the East Java Provincial Government only covers the route from Madyopuro up to Telangagung, Kepanjen. Widjaja said the provincial side is currently studying and evaluating various inputs as well as requests from the public.

“Of course there are considerations. The most important thing is that the public can immediately enjoy Trans Jatim Corridor 2 first. While it is evaluated, as conveyed by the Governor as well as by the Head of the Provincial Transportation Agency, it was conveyed that evaluation will always be carried out,” said Widjaja.
