Seoul, en.SERU.co.id — ITZY member Ryujin has issued a heartfelt apology to fans. The apology followed a viral clip showing her adjusting her stage outfit during a recent concert, which drew significant online criticism.
The incident occurred while the group was performing on July 4, 2026. In the widely circulated video, Ryujin was seen briefly reaching into her shorts to adjust her jumpsuit. Some viewers criticized the moment as inappropriate. However, the full unedited footage showed Ryujin was simply adjusting a jumpsuit that had ridden up and was causing her physical discomfort.
Ryujin’s Official Statement
In a message shared on her video on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Ryujin explained:
“That jumpsuit was riding up way too high, and it was genuinely so uncomfortable and painful. I wasn’t thinking straight at the moment, I just really needed to pull it down.”
She added:
“I think I’ve gotten so comfortable around MIDZY lately that I completely let my guard down on stage and acted without thinking. I am so deeply sorry for that.”
Ryujin acknowledged that the clip looked off and promised fans it would “never happen again.”

Fan Reactions and Broader Context
Many fans have rallied behind Ryujin, arguing that the backlash stems from malicious editing that looped the short moment to make it appear worse. Many pointed out she was wearing safety shorts underneath and criticized the stylist for providing an uncomfortable outfit.
The controversy has also reignited discussions about the intense scrutiny female K-pop idols face regarding their stage presence and the frequent double standards compared to male idols.
As of now, JYP Entertainment has not released an additional official statement on the matter.
