Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The comedy film “GJLS Berapi-api” burned the laughter of premiere audiences, as well as a Meet and Greet with the cast at Mopic Cinemas Malang on Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2026. Rigen Rakelna and Carissa Perruset attended to greet the public, the comic community, fire department representatives, up to the premiere audience of the comedy film “GJLS Berapi-api” in Malang.

Co-Producer of Amadeus Sinemagna, Fiqi Wandiya Septa Pratama, explained that this second GJLS film is not a direct continuation of the story (direct sequel) from GJLS Ibuku Ibu-Ibu. In the first film focusing on the dynamics of sibling relationships, GJLS Berapi-api presents the trio Rigen, Hifdzi, and Rispo as friends. It begins with the journey of their childhood dreams as firefighters, a profession closely tied to safety, social aspects, up to humanity.

“In GJLS Berapi-api we made a comedy that can be accepted outside the GJLS-er fan base. The story is truly new by choosing the theme of firefighters, because this profession deserves appreciation as it is heroic and unique. So from the side of the first and second films there is no similarity in story structure,” said Fiqi, answering questions from the media.

GJLS Berapi-api Carries the Theme of Firefighters’ Lives

He stated that the new story titled “GJLS Berapi-api” carries the theme of the lives of Fire Department (Damkar) officers with a more inclusive comedy wrap. Especially for the general public across generations, Gen Z, millennials, up to families with a classification of age 13 and above.

“As we understand, our firefighter friends deserve appreciation from heroic actions of extinguishing fires, independent socialization of fire handling for the community. Up to community services that are sometimes outside monitoring, we fill those empty gaps with comedy elements. The trio Rigen, Hifdzi, and Rispo portray comedy actions when handling residents’ reports such as possession, a head stuck in a fence, up to heroic actions of extinguishing a large fire,” explained Fiqi.

In addition to the actions and spontaneous chatter of the comics that force the audience to laugh, several moments also evoke the audience’s empathy unconsciously. Even some audience members shed tears without realizing it because there are scenes with humanitarian elements.

“Like possession for example, it should be seeking an ustaz, this instead seeks the fire department. That is a strange but funny thing, especially portrayed by these three comics. So the firefighter story is inspiring, yet can also be made into comedy, in quotation marks constructive comedy,” he stressed.

The Actors Equipped with Theory and Intensive Training

To provide realistic performances, the main actors were equipped with theory and intensive training (workshop) together with real firefighters for three days. Actress Carissa Perusset and comic Rigen Rakelna revealed their experiences undergoing theory, training, up to real fire handling simulations.

“We learned directly with the firefighters. The training was very intense, starting from theory up to practice handling gas cylinder leaks to extinguishing gasoline flames. We also wore real fire jackets and oxygen tanks,” said Rigen.

Rigen added that the extinguishing scene in a building that was truly burned became one of the most challenging and memorable moments during the shooting process.

“That truly tested courage and challenge, because it was a real building that was burned. We wore fire jackets, then we used oxygen, and it was truly heavy and very hot because of the embers. So it was fun here,” said Rigen.

GJLS Berapi-api Dedicated to Firefighters

Although the process of making this film was planned before the widespread cases of forest and land fires (karhutla). The creators and actors hope that this work can become a form of appreciation as well as real dedication for all firefighters on duty in the field.

“Hopefully this film can entertain friends and represent the feelings of the firefighter friends who are currently struggling. At the same time provide inspiration and awareness for the wider audience when enjoying it with friends and family,” said Carissa.

Synopsis of Film GJLS Berapi-api

It tells the efforts and childhood dreams of three friends (Rigen, Rispo, and Hifdzi) at the fire academy, with various tests and realities in the field. Instead of dreaming of facing large flames, they are instead placed in the non-fire service division. Handling various absurd and comical resident problems, such as a head stuck in fence bars, picking up report cards, up to overcoming possessed residents.

When undergoing several tests, such as physical tests, self-defense, animal rescue, and team formation, they failed completely. Because the local kids (akamsi) of Rawa Bocah Sector, little commander Toni tried to persuade Headquarters Commander Bonita Daniella/Bondan. In addition to needing human resources amid budget efficiency, their achievements if successful would motivate the teenagers around the Fire Station.

The three of them were finally given the opportunity as long as they could pass additional exams for 4 days. Such as a head stuck entering fence bars, picking up a school child’s report card, toxic child bedtime stories, possession emergency, up to socialization of independent fire handling to residents. Some of them were successfully handled, yet considered trivial and tarnishing the unit.

As a result, the three were decided not to pass, yet given the opportunity to join the inauguration, serve, and take the exam next year. Amid the uncertainty of status, the three of them succeeded in releasing child hostages who were kidnapped by a trafficking gang posing as a laundry business.

After winning the fight, the three friends and the children instead got trapped in a building burning action by the gang. Yet they succeeded in escaping through the emergency stairs, along with the arrival of the fire department team extinguishing the location. Their daring action of freeing the children from trafficking and saving the commander was finally appreciated by the fire department unit and the police.

In the happy ending, Commander Bondan is the little girl and father who were once helped by little Rigen during a fire in his village. As a result, thanks to their action of saving the children from trafficking and the fire, the three friends were accepted back into the fire department team.
