Batang, en.SERU.co.id – The Central Java provincial government has distributed 3.2 million liters of clean water to residents struggling with water shortages as the dry season intensifies through mid-July 2026.
Governor Ahmad Luthfi said local governments across the province have carefully mapped the hardest-hit areas to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
“Regents and mayors have already prepared drought mapping data, which serves as our foundation for swift and targeted action based on each region’s conditions,” Luthfi stated.
From June 5 to July 14, the assistance reached 81,297 people, equivalent to 30,378 households, across 15 regencies in the province.
According to the Central Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), 16 areas have now declared drought alert status: Sukoharjo, Demak, Temanggung, Brebes, Kendal, Sragen, Banjarnegara, Purbalingga, Grobogan, Semarang, Pemalang, Wonosobo, Purworejo, Wonogiri, Salatiga City, and Tegal City.
The distribution effort involves close coordination between the provincial government, district and city administrations, BPBD, BPJS Kesehatan, the Serayu Opak River Basin Authority, and state-owned water company Tirta Satria through its corporate social responsibility program.

To get ahead of the problem, the province issued a governor’s circular on June 9 urging all regions to prepare for drought and forest and land fires.
Beyond immediate water deliveries, authorities are also rolling out longer-term solutions, including maintenance of communal bore wells, upgrades to clean water infrastructure, and public education on responsible water use.
With a mix of rapid response and forward planning, officials hope to minimize the impact of the prolonged dry season and keep basic needs met for affected communities. (gts/rhd)
