Background of Their Relationship
IU and Lee Jong-suk first met in 2012 while co-hosting SBS’s music show Inkigayo. After years of close friendship, they officially confirmed their romantic relationship at the end of December 2022. At the time, both agencies noted that their bond had naturally developed from colleagues to partners.
Despite frequent public attention, the couple was known for keeping a low profile. Rumors of a breakup surfaced several times between 2025 and early 2026, but both agencies repeatedly denied the speculation.
