Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id — Vaseline Thailand has set off a wave of speculation after dropping a “Coming Soon” teaser that strongly resembles Jennie from BLACKPINK. The teaser, released on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), shows a woman in a white cropped outfit under soft lighting with the Vaseline logo. Fans and netizens quickly jumped to the conclusion that Jennie is about to be named the brand’s new Global Brand Ambassador under Unilever.

As of now, ODD ATELIER — Jennie’s own agency — has not issued any official statement. Still, the rumor has been circulating heavily on social media since May 18, especially after Vaseline Korea reportedly cleared its Instagram feed and left only the teaser content.

Vaseline, long known for its classic petroleum jelly, has grown into a full skincare line and is one of Unilever’s major performers with billions in revenue. The move looks like a smart play by the brand to reach younger audiences through Jennie’s massive global influence. She already fronts luxury names like Chanel, Calvin Klein, and Ray-Ban, so this would add a more everyday consumer product to her portfolio.

The announcement hasn’t gone smoothly, though. It has drawn sharp criticism from people supporting the boycott against Unilever over its alleged business ties to Israel. The company has come under fire in the past, including the controversial sale of its Ben & Jerry’s operations in Israel. Even though Unilever denies directly supporting the conflict, BDS activists continue to call for boycotts on its products, including Vaseline, Dove, Lux, and Pond’s.

Here are some of the critical comments making the rounds online:

  • “Mind yall Vaseline is on the boycott list, let’s see how her fans will react. Because yall are not hypocrites right??????” — @Thebear1995T (May 18, 2026)
  • “She’s chasing each and every boycotted Israeli funded brands” — @do1exa (May 19, 2026)
  • “Oh a toxic product for a toxic woman that makes sense” — @h0nestbl1nkeu (May 18, 2026)
  • “No wonder she was topping list of biggest Israeli fundraisers” — @do1exa (May 19, 2026)

On the other hand, many Blink fans are genuinely excited. They see it as further proof that Jennie has become a full-fledged beauty icon. Most argue that these endorsement deals are business decisions made by the agency and don’t necessarily reflect the idol’s personal views.

This situation highlights the tricky spot many K-pop stars often find themselves in — huge global exposure on one side, and sensitive geopolitical backlash on the other. Public reaction will likely keep evolving once the official confirmation drops.
