Spider-Man: Brand New Day Crosses $2 Billion, Becomes Eighth Film to Reach Milestone

Los Angeles, en.SERU.co.idSpider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed the US$2 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming only the eighth film in history to reach the milestone.

The Marvel film starring Tom Holland reached approximately US$2.022 billion globally after three weekends in theaters, according to industry figures reported by Variety and box-office trackers.

The film earned around US$785.8 million in North America and approximately US$1.236 billion from international markets. It became the second-fastest film ever to surpass US$2 billion, reaching the milestone in about 17 days. Avengers: Endgame remains the fastest, doing so in 11 days.

Spider-Man Dominates Third Weekend

Brand New Day remained at the top of the North American box office for a third consecutive weekend, earning an estimated US$70 million between August 14 and 16.

The latest weekend brought its domestic total to roughly US$785.8 million. The film also generated around US$188.7 million worldwide during the weekend.

The film had already made box-office history during its opening weekend. It debuted with more than US$350 million in North America and approximately US$927 million worldwide, giving it one of the biggest global openings ever.

It then crossed US$1 billion worldwide within six days of release.

Highest-Grossing Spider-Man Film

The latest performance has pushed Spider-Man: Brand New Day past Spider-Man: No Way Home, which finished its theatrical run with approximately US$1.92 billion worldwide.

The film has therefore become the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie to date and the biggest release in Sony Pictures’ history, according to industry reports.

With the movie still in theaters, analysts expect its worldwide total to continue rising. Its final box-office performance will depend on how strongly it holds in the coming weeks.

The film has now joined a small group of movies that have crossed the US$2 billion threshold, including Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War and Ne Zha 2.
