The report was first published by Australian outlet news.com.au and has since been reported by outlets including People, Variety and ITV News. A spokesperson for Meghan and Prince Harry declined to comment on the report but did not deny it.
Details of the project, including its title and Meghan’s potential role, have not been disclosed.
News.com.au royal correspondent Bronte Coy, who first reported the story, told BBC Radio 4’s Today program that the opportunity was “significant” and that Meghan was excited about it.
Speaking to ITV News, Coy said Meghan, “is returning to acting,” describing the profession as her “bread and butter.” She also linked the opportunity to Meghan’s reported plans to spend more time in the UK.
Meghan’s Potential Acting Return
Meghan starred as Rachel Zane in Suits from 2011 to 2018. She stepped away from acting after marrying Prince Harry, although she has continued to appear in entertainment projects.
She recently filmed a cameo as herself in the Amazon MGM comedy Close Personal Friends alongside Brie Larson and Lily Collins. She has also hosted the Netflix series With Love, Meghan and appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia.
The potential new role would therefore represent a more substantial return to scripted acting than her recent appearances.

The news comes as Meghan and Harry are reportedly preparing to spend an extended period in the United Kingdom with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
According to People, the acting opportunity is one of several factors behind the family’s reported plans, alongside Harry’s charitable commitments and the children’s education. The couple are expected to establish a private home base outside London while retaining their home in Montecito, California.
Their return would not represent a return to official royal duties. Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior working royals in 2020 and continue to operate independently.
As of now, neither Meghan nor her representatives has confirmed the title of the project, production company or whether she has formally accepted the role.
