Seoul, en.SERU.co.id – Red Velvet is set to release its new summer mini album, Velvet Summer, on August 3, 2026, at 6 p.m. KST. The five-track EP marks the group’s first full-group release in more than two years, following Cosmic in June 2024.

SM Entertainment confirmed the details, stating that the album and its lead single, “Surfin’ Boy,” will be available simultaneously on major streaming platforms. According to Aju Press, SM Entertainment described the project as the group’s return as a complete five-member unit.

Unlike earlier high-energy summer tracks such as “Red Flavor,” “Power Up,” and “Umpah Umpah,” the title track adopts a more laid-back approach. It combines bossa nova guitar, reggae rhythms, and house grooves. SM Entertainment noted that the song highlights a more mature side of the group’s seasonal musical identity.

Member Joy wrote the lyrics for both “Surfin’ Boy” and the track “Hawaii.” StarNews reported that the lyrics for the title track focus on revisiting a memorable summer spent with someone special while looking ahead to creating new ones. Longtime collaborator KENZIE contributed lyrics and composition for “Hot Girls Cold Vibe.” Producer Hwang Hyun and lyricist Jo Yoon-kyung collaborated on “Orchestra” and “Hula Hoop.”

Prior to the album release, Red Velvet held the three-day “2026 Red Velvet FAN-CON ‘A Day in Red & Velvet’” from July 31 to August 2 at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium in Seoul. All shows sold out, and the event was expanded from its original two-day schedule. The group performed “Surfin’ Boy” live for the first time during the fan concert. The final performance was livestreamed globally via Beyond LIVE and Weverse.

On release day, the group plans a countdown livestream beginning at 5 p.m. KST on its official YouTube and TikTok channels. SM Entertainment also announced that the reality series Level Up Project will return later this year with its sixth season, the first new installment in approximately four years.

The release reunites all five members (Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri) for group activities.
