Vice Rector IV Prof. Dr. Ahmad Munjin Nasih said the result reflects steady collective work across the university.

“This achievement comes from the entire academic community strengthening institutional governance and continuously improving academic quality,” he noted, according to the university’s website on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.

Webometrics evaluates more than 32,000 universities worldwide. Its scoring rests on three main measures: visibility (50 percent), transparency (10 percent), and excellence (40 percent).

Prof. Munjin stressed that rankings are not the goal itself. They simply show the outcome of ongoing efforts to improve how the institution is run. UM continues to pursue its vision of a “Campus with Impact,” ensuring that teaching, research, and innovation deliver real benefits to society and industry.

Faculty and student research is therefore pushed beyond journal publications toward practical application and downstream use. The aim is to boost the competitiveness of local MSMEs and to spread innovative teaching methods to other education institutions across Indonesia.

He called on the whole university community—students, lecturers, and staff—to treat the latest ranking as motivation to produce higher-quality work, expand partnerships, and deepen contributions to the nation.

“UM must keep creating, innovating, and serving the country. Success depends on every part of the university,” he said. (aan/mzm)
