Batu, en.SERU.co.id — The Batu City Government has moved quickly to tighten oversight of street vendors at the popular Alun-Alun Kota Batu tourist square following a viral social media complaint alleging a food seller was reselling customers’ leftovers.
To verify the claims and protect consumers, Regional Secretary Alfi Nurhidayat personally inspected the area, accompanied by Acting Head of the Cooperatives, Micro Enterprises, Industry, and Trade Agency (Diskumperindag), Dian Fachroni.
Alfi reassured visitors and locals that they have nothing to worry about when enjoying food in Batu.
“People and tourists don’t need to feel scared or anxious about visiting and enjoying culinary delights in Batu City,” Alfi told SERU.co.id.
The surprise inspection aimed to ensure all vendors follow proper operational procedures and health standards. Before the visit, city officials had already coordinated with representatives of the street vendors (PKL). Through this direct engagement, the government hopes vendors will be more disciplined about cleanliness, product quality, and service ethics.

“Let’s work together to protect the reputation of Batu City as a premier tourist destination,” Alfi added.
Dian Fachroni noted that his agency conducts regular coaching for street vendors even without specific incidents. He highlighted that several culinary groups at Alun-Alun Batu already hold halal certificates and hygienic fitness certificates from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).
This proactive measure underscores the local government’s commitment to maintaining public trust and preserving Batu’s image as a safe, comfortable tourist spot for visitors from across the region. (dik/ono)
