New York, en.SERU.co.id — Music legend Paul McCartney delivered a historic surprise at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding reception at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, 2026. He performed the classic Beatles song “I Want to Hold Your Hand” for the first time in more than six decades.
The 84-year-old took the stage after the couple exchanged vows. According to sources close to the event, it was the first time McCartney had played the 1964 hit live since The Beatles’ concert at New York’s Paramount Theatre on September 20, 1964.
“Paul McCartney performed the band’s No. 1 hit ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ at the couple’s star-studded reception,” a source told People magazine. The performance came after guests were invited into the reception area following the ceremony.
The track marked one of The Beatles’ earliest and biggest successes in America. McCartney had not included it in his solo sets either, making the moment at Swift and Kelce’s wedding especially noteworthy.
The wedding itself drew widespread attention as one of the year’s biggest celebrity events. Held at Madison Square Garden with around 1,000 guests, it featured several high-profile performers, including Stevie Nicks. McCartney’s appearance stood out as a highlight for many in attendance.
