Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Malang Regency’s Tourism and Culture Agency (Disparbud) is actively broadening its international networks and showcasing its diverse attractions to Asian markets at Travel Meet Asia (TMA) 2026. The move aims to boost visitor numbers to Indonesia’s second-largest regency after Banyuwangi.
Firmando Matondang Hasiholan, Head of Malang’s Tourism and Culture Agency, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as a key platform to strengthen promotion under the national “Wonderful Indonesia” brand.
“Travel Meet Asia gives us a valuable chance to introduce Malang’s tourism potential to travel associations, tour operators, and international buyers,” Firmando said in an official statement.
Beyond the iconic Mount Bromo, the regency highlighted other standout destinations, including Coban Sewu waterfall, the scenic southern Malang beaches, various tourist villages, and its rich cultural heritage. The promotion targeted ASEAN markets — particularly Singapore — along with global tour operators and buyers.
Firmando emphasized that Malang offers far more than just Bromo.
“We want the tourism industry to know that Malang also has Coban Sewu, beautiful southern beaches, tourist villages, and many other excellent destinations worth visiting,” he said. All of these are being integrated into the broader Wonderful Indonesia campaign.
During the event, the Malang delegation focused on building stronger collaborations with stakeholders, including ASITA (the Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies Association), tourism businesses, and the hospitality sector. The forum also served as a space to gather feedback for improving destination management, services, and products.

Firmando held direct talks with Indonesia’s Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, specifically discussing strategies to market Coban Sewu more effectively. The conversation also covered enhancing destination security and strengthening human resources — particularly for local tour guides who have yet to join professional organizations.
“We presented our development and marketing plans for Coban Sewu so it gains greater recognition both nationally and internationally. The ministry expressed support for improving security and building the capacity of our tourism workforce, especially guides, so they can better promote Malang and Indonesia as a whole,” Firmando explained.
He hopes the participation in this prestigious event will lead to lasting partnerships with travel associations and buyers from various countries. The ultimate goal is a measurable increase in tourist arrivals and positive economic impact for the region.
“We want more travel associations and buyers to include Malang in their travel packages. That way, the promotion doesn’t stop at this forum but continues into actual visits that benefit local communities and further establish Malang as a premier destination under the Wonderful Indonesia banner,” Firmando added.
