Seoul, en.SERU.co.id — South Korean actor Song Joong-ki is making a long-awaited homecoming to broadcaster KBS, starring in the upcoming romantic comedy Love Cloud, his first drama with the network since the 2016 global hit Descendants of the Sun.

According to industry sources on May 13, 2026, Love Cloud has officially secured a weekend drama slot on KBS2. The series is slated to air in the first half of 2027, following KBS’s anticipated historical drama Munmu: The Great King.

Song will play Kang Woo-joo, a former flight instructor now working as an air traffic controller. He is set to reunite on screen with Park Ji-hyun, his Reborn Rich co-star, who is in talks to portray Ahn Ha-nee (or Ahn Hanee), a spirited former pilot trainee turned airline first officer. The story follows the pair as they cross paths again seven years later on the mystical island of Jeju, where “even love becomes like the weather.”

The project marks a swift comeback for Song, who wrapped up JTBC’s My Youth just months ago. It also reunites him with director Song Min-yeop (known for Youth of May) and a rookie writing team under the name Mad Rabbit. Supporting cast members, including actors Lee Si-woo and Choi Hee-jin, are reportedly reviewing offers.

A representative from Song’s agency, HighZium Studio, previously confirmed he was positively reviewing the script when initial reports surfaced late last year. Park Ji-hyun’s agency, Namoo Actors, echoed the sentiment: “Park Ji-hyun received an offer to star in the new drama Love Cloud and is positively reviewing it.”

Fans have welcomed the news enthusiastically, anticipating lighter rom-com fare from Song following more intense roles. Production details and an official confirmation from KBS are expected in the coming months.

Love Cloud is currently in the casting and pre-production phase, with filming anticipated to begin later in 2026.
