Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Around 17,300 new students at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) took part in the Campus Life Introduction for New Students (PKKMB) under the banner of Raja Brawijaya 2026. The event carries the theme “Gelora Brawijaya: Building a Transformative Generation that is Inclusive, Innovative, Globally Minded and Sustainable for Golden Indonesia 2045.”
Rector Prof. Widodo SSi MSi PhD MedSc described Raja Brawijaya as the first gateway for new students entering the wider UB family. It marks the start of their academic journey and personal development while giving the university a chance to introduce campus life and encourage students to build their capacity from day one.
“Raja Brawijaya is the first gateway for our new students to enter life as members of the UB community. Make your time at university a space to learn, grow, collaborate and prepare yourselves to give the best contribution to society and Indonesia,” Prof. Widodo said in his opening address on Monday, 10 August 2026.
The program also includes international students from various countries.
Traffic Measures and National Speakers
Raja Brawijaya 2026 runs from Monday to Wednesday (10–12 August 2026) at university level, followed by faculty-level activities from Thursday to Saturday (13–15 August 2026). Motorists are advised to avoid the UB campus and surrounding roads during morning and afternoon peak times when large numbers of new students enter and leave.
“As in previous years, we are running it in hybrid form—part offline and part online. To prevent congestion, we have coordinated with the TNI and police to help manage traffic flow and access around the campus,” said Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Imam Santoso MP.
UB will also bring in national figures as guest lecturers, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the Director of BPJS Kesehatan, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Human Resources, a Presidential Special Staff member for Education, Pegadaian leaders, and several high-profile alumni.
“They are not only public figures. They can motivate new students to chase their dreams and even become national figures themselves,” Prof. Imam explained.
Mental Health Screening and Anti-Bullying Commitment
Director of Student Affairs Dr. Sujarwo SP MP said the orientation is both a warm welcome for new students and an opportunity for UB to present its best face.
“With open arms we welcome the new students and show the best side of Universitas Brawijaya. Our hope is that they set high expectations for themselves—pushing their academic and student-life capacity to the highest level they can reach,” said Jarwo, as he is commonly known.
On the mental-health screening and the university’s stance against bullying and sexual violence, Jarwo noted that similar programs have been running for several years, always focusing on new students and final-year students in response to emerging needs.
“Mental-health screening has been in place since 2023 during the Mahasiswa Membangun Desa (MMD) program, so it has a clear history. Among tens of thousands of students, every cohort has a number of cases that we receive and handle. UB also takes firm action against perpetrators of bullying or stereotyping—ranging from light sanctions to expulsion for serious offences,” Jarwo stressed.
Five Main Issues and Digital Innovation
Committee chair Daffa Yasa Pratama said this year’s Raja Brawijaya centers on five key themes: mental health and anti-sexual-violence, inclusivity, global perspective, artificial intelligence and digitalization, and sustainability.
“This year we want Raja Brawijaya to become a World Class University Orientation. As a world-class campus, the PKKMB concept highlights internationalization. It not only equips Indonesian students with a global outlook but also involves international students in campus activities,” Daffa explained.
The approach is expected to give new students a richer experience and introduce them to an academic environment increasingly connected to the global community.
On the technology side, the organizing team developed a fully digital management system called the Integrated System Managerial Raja Brawijaya and launched an app for new students that includes maps and an AI assistant.

“These technologies are designed to help new students get the information they need throughout the PKKMB program. The same digital innovation is also used for mental-health screening when students collect their alma-mater jackets, for digital campaigns and for providing counsellors,” he said.
Raja Brawijaya 2026 is built to be more interactive, blending education and entertainment through the Candra Sena Ambassador program. The platform encourages new students to become agents of positive campaigns and to inspire achievement among their peers.
“The spirit of being ‘innovative, groundbreaking and creative’ can be the first step for new students to grow into the Brawijaya generation—people who can adapt, remain open to diversity and global developments, and care about sustainability on the road to Golden Indonesia 2045,” Daffa concluded.
