Seoul, en.SERU.co.id — School violence allegations against actress Song Ha Yoon continue to affect her career well into 2026, more than two years after the claims first surfaced in April 2024.

The case gained widespread attention in April 2024 on the JTBC program “Crime Chief.” A claimed that in August 2004, when she was a sophomore at Banpo High School, Song Ha Yoon — then a senior at Banpo High School — called her to the playground and slapped her for approximately 90 minutes.

Additional allegations later surfaced, including claims of group assault that reportedly resulted in another student sustaining injuries requiring four weeks of medical treatment, leading to Song’s forced school transfer (강제전학).

According to a Money Today report on June 25, 2026, police decided not to forward Song Ha Yoon’s defamation lawsuit against A to prosecutors. The authorities ruled that the defamation charge did not constitute a crime and found insufficient evidence to support the other allegations.

Song’s legal team filed an objection, prompting further investigation. The case has now been sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment against A on charges of defamation, business obstruction, and threats.

The accuser has previously stated his intention to file a civil lawsuit seeking approximately 10 billion won (around $7.3 million) in damages.

Song’s agency, King Kong by Starship, initially confirmed she had been forcibly transferred from Banpo High School due to a school incident but later strongly denied any involvement in violence. In July 2025, her legal representatives stated:

“I have never met A, never committed any violence, and was never forcibly transferred due to school violence as claimed.”

Impact on Her Career

The allegations surfaced at the height of Song’s popularity following her critically acclaimed antagonist role in the 2024 hit drama Marry My Husband.

Since then, she has faced several setbacks:

  • She was removed from the drama History of Scruffiness in early 2025.
  • She maintained a low profile and effectively went on hiatus for an extended period.
  • Her contract with King Kong by Starship expired in July 2025.

In an official statement, Song’s team acknowledged the difficult situation, saying:

“Her 22 years of acting career has been severely damaged… She is currently preparing for a comeback with a fresh mindset in a new environment.”

As of late June 2026, Song has yet to make a full acting comeback. Public opinion remains sharply divided, with some supporting her and others remaining skeptical due to the school transfer records.

The case is still under review by prosecutors, and no final court decision has been issued.
