San Francisco, en.SERU.co.id — Disney and The Pokémon Company International have reached a global distribution agreement that will bring the classic animated series Pokémon the Series: The Beginning to Disney+ in the United States and select international markets.
The series, which follows Ash Ketchum and Pikachu during their early adventures, also began airing on Disney XD earlier in August 2026.
The agreement was announced on August 28 during Pokémon XP in San Francisco. Pokémon the Series: The Beginning is the first title released under the new partnership and covers the original Indigo League storyline set in the Kanto region.
New Stop-Motion Pokémon Series Coming in 2027
The partnership also includes a new stop-motion series, Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, produced by Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ and Disney XD in 2027. Set in the Galar region, it will follow Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they travel across the region on a mission to help and protect Pokémon.

Phil Rynda, director of original animation at The Pokémon Company International, said the new series would bring stories of adventure and heroism from the Pokémon perspective while benefiting from Aardman’s distinctive filmmaking style.
