London, en.SERU.co.id – Emilia Clarke has finally addressed the long-running rumors about how much she and her co-stars earned on Game of Thrones. In a new interview with Variety published on Friday (29/5/2026), the actress who played Daenerys Targaryen described reports claiming the main cast made around $300,000 per episode as “wildly exaggerated.”
“We didn’t earn that much. Can you imagine? I’d have been driving a couple of Porsches!” she said.
The rumors first popped up years ago, around 2014 to 2017, as the show hit peak popularity. Some stories even pushed the figure as high as $500,000 per episode in the later seasons. Clarke’s comments, delivered with her usual humor, quickly made headlines across entertainment sites.
While she pushed back on the inflated numbers, Clarke was clear that the role still changed her life financially. She revealed the money she made was enough to pay off her parents’ mortgage, a detail she’s shared before.
She also noted that pay on the show was fair across the board. In previous comments that resurfaced this week, Clarke said she was paid the same as her male co-stars from the start.

“On ‘Game of Thrones,’ I have always been paid the same amount as my male co-stars. It was my first job, and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman, in my paycheck,” (Clarke’s 2018 statement re-quoted in the 2026 report).
The story has been picked up by several outlets, including Page Six, Just Jared, and Times of India, all highlighting her lighthearted response to the decade-old gossip.
Clarke didn’t share her exact salary, but her message was simple: the numbers people heard were way overblown.
