Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Following the forest and land fire (Karhutla), the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (BB TNBTS) will reopen Gunung Bromo tourism for visitors. The tourist area is scheduled to resume operations on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
Head of BB TNBTS, Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, explained that the policy was implemented based on considerations consistent with the announcement by the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, Raja Juli Antoni. The decision was made during a working meeting with Commission IV of the House of Representatives regarding the results of monitoring and evaluation of the area’s condition, taking into account the safety of visitors and officers, on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.
“Therefore, the Bromo tourism area will be reopened for tourist visits starting Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 00.01 WIB,” Rudijanta said when confirmed.
He explained that in connection with the reopening of the Bromo tourism area, the public, visitors, tourism service providers and related parties are urged to always comply with all provisions and instructions from officers in the field.
They are also asked not to carry out activities that could trigger fires, such as making campfires or bonfires. It is strictly prohibited to discard cigarette butts or other objects carelessly because they have the potential to become sources of fire.
He further requested that all parties always maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of the area and immediately report to officers if they find smoke, embers or indications of fire.
“Let us jointly protect the area so that similar fire incidents do not occur again,” he said.
