Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Indonesian director Baim Wong is using his latest film to remind audiences that family remains the ultimate safe haven amid life’s struggles.
Titled ‘Semua Akan Baik-baik Saja‘ (Everything Will Be Fine), the family drama stars top actors including Reza Rahadian and features a special appearance by Alim, a young man with Down syndrome. Hundreds of children with special needs in Malang gathered excitedly for a special screening of the film.
Baim, a father of two, said the story draws directly from everyday family challenges — from struggling to pay for a sibling’s education to tough decisions about selling possessions.
“At the end of the day, everything leads back to family. There’s no such thing as being too late. Love your parents, because true happiness is found at home,” Baim told SERU.co.id.
He admitted that working with Alim, who plays the youngest of three siblings, presented unique challenges. After losing his mother suddenly and being rejected by his father in the story, the character must live with his grandmother and uncle.
“Initially, it was difficult because we didn’t fully understand how he thinks. But once we learned his patterns — what makes him happy, what makes him cry, what keeps him comfortable on set — it became much easier,” Baim explained.
Baim added that music, especially playing tracks in reverse, helps lift Alim’s mood during filming.
The production took longer than usual for Tiger Wong Entertainment, requiring about 1.5 years mainly due to the extended script development process.

Titik Hidayati, who organized the special screening for children with special needs, expressed deep gratitude and pride in Alim’s involvement.
“As parents, we know how challenging it is to raise children like this,” she said. “Alim is 25 but socially around 10 years old, just like my own child. What Baim has done is truly meaningful.”
Titik hopes the film will educate society and reduce stigma toward children with disabilities.
“We want people to see their strengths, not just their limitations. In the movie, there are scenes where Alim gets bullied — called fat or stupid. We hope that in real life, such bullying stops. No more teasing our children,” she emphasized.
Semua Akan Baik-baik Saja also stars Christine Hakim, Raihaanun, Ari Irham, Happy Salma, and Salim. The story explores complex family problems, the importance of unity, and setting aside ego for the sake of loved ones. (wul/mzm)
