Situbondo, en.SERU.co.id – A fresh addition has breathed new life into the corner of Situbondo’s historic Alun-alun square. TradiSea Rooms & Resto officially opened its doors on Wednesday (13/5/2026), bringing the inviting aromas of fresh seafood and local spices to the heart of the city.

More than just a restaurant and guesthouse, TradiSea embraces the “from farm to table” philosophy, emphasizing direct connections between local farmers, fishermen, breeders, and diners. The establishment prioritizes sustainability as its core principle.

Owner Febriati Nadira said the project was built with a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and community ties, rather than profit alone.

“This is fundamentally a sustainability concept. We benchmark ourselves against businesses that truly put sustainability first,” Nadira explained.

The venue occupies a revitalized historic building, carefully restored with a modern touch while preserving its original character. Recycled wood and eco-friendly materials feature prominently in the interior design.

“It’s an old building that we’ve recycled with modern accents. All the wood, including the doors, is reclaimed,” she added.

This green approach extends to every detail, including the guest rooms, where even the bathroom amenities — such as pH-balanced soaps — are chosen for their environmental friendliness.

Nadira emphasized that the farm-to-table concept goes beyond the menu. TradiSea is developing an integrated business model spanning agriculture and livestock. One current initiative is a cage-free chicken farm run in collaboration with local youth in Situbondo.

The owner, who was born in Situbondo, views the project as a personal homecoming and a contribution to her hometown.

“I was born here. This is my family’s contribution to our homeland. It’s time to come back,” she said.

Nadira is optimistic about Situbondo’s future as a coastal city along the Pantura route, especially with planned infrastructure improvements such as a new toll road that should boost tourism and travel.

“The market and demand are there, but supply is still limited. Being a coastal city on the Pantura corridor gives us a natural advantage,” she noted.

She also sees growing interest in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) businesses, hoping TradiSea will attract not only local and domestic visitors but also international travelers seeking sustainable options.

Positive local support

Situbondo Regent Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo welcomed the opening, describing it as a much-needed revitalization of the town square area.

“We’re very proud. Finally, the alun-alun area is no longer dead,” said Regent Rio after inaugurating TradiSea.

He praised TradiSea for addressing the longstanding shortage of quality culinary and accommodation options in the city.

“This is the face of Situbondo. We fully support this idea because it helps introduce Situbondo to more people,” he added.

The regent also expressed appreciation for Nadira’s decision to invest in her hometown.

“Thank you to Mbak Ira for investing back in her home village. As she said, it’s time to come home,” he remarked.

He hopes TradiSea will become a comfortable gathering place and affordable yet premium accommodation for both residents and tourists. (aza/mzm)
