Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim (UIN Maliki) Malang has recorded a significant accomplishment in its international student recruitment efforts. For the 2026 Academic Year International Student Admissions (PMB Internasional), the university successfully attracted 702 applicants from 44 countries.
Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development, Prof. Dr. M. Abdul Hamid, S.Ag., M.A., emphasized that the influx of international students represents far more than a numerical success. It constitutes a strategic, long-term investment.
“International students serve as ambassadors for Indonesia’s moderate Islamic values,” Prof. Abdul Hamid stated.
“From UIN Malang, we hope to nurture a generation of globally minded individuals who are character-driven, inclusive, and equipped to address contemporary challenges,” he added.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, highlights the strong appeal of this East Java-based campus, which emphasizes moderate Islam.
Prof. Abdul Hamid attributed the achievement to the university’s consistent internationalization strategy and extensive cross-national networks, which have steadily enhanced UIN Maliki Malang’s global reputation.
University leadership views this milestone as a foundation for evolving into a world-class institution deeply rooted in Indonesian identity. The diversity brought by students from dozens of countries is expected to enrich the academic environment, broaden intercultural dialogue, and stimulate international collaborations across disciplines.
“Moving forward, UIN Malang remains committed to developing international programs on a sustainable basis,” Prof. Abdul Hamid affirmed. “This aligns with our broader vision of becoming an outstanding, moderate Islamic university with strong global competitiveness.” (*/rhd)
