Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Authorities have completely closed all tourist access to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) after forest fires continued to spread across the area.
The full closure took effect on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at 10 p.m. local time and will remain in place until further notice.
Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, head of the TNBTS management office, said the move was made “in the interest of effective firefighting efforts, while also prioritizing the safety and security of visitors.”
He explained that when the fires first broke out on Monday, 3 August, access was only restricted from Malang and Lumajang. As the blaze expanded, every entrance was shut. The closed gateways now include Cemorolawang in Probolinggo, Wonokitri in Pasuruan, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang, and Senduro in Lumajang.
Visitors who already bought online tickets for dates during the closure period can reschedule or request a refund.

“You can rebook or get your money back by completing the form we provide through the TNBTS online booking application administrator,” Rudijanta said.
Park officials also urged the public, tourists, and local tourism operators to refrain from any tourism activities inside the park and to help prevent further forest fires by handling open flames with care for the safety, security, and comfort of everyone. (wul/ono)
