Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has praised the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) kitchen operated by Yayasan Prokids Anak Indonesia, suggesting it could serve as the national standard for the government’s free nutritious meal (MBG) program.
General TNI (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Dudung Abdurachman MM visited the facility on Friday (12/6/2026) and said he was impressed by its high standards of hygiene, food safety, and overall quality.
“I came here specifically to see the SPPG kitchen that has received so many positive reports. It’s not only very hygienic but also fully meets the standards set by the President,” Dudung said.
He highlighted the kitchen’s rigorous management, from strict access control and cooking processes to the use of proper health protective equipment during food preparation and serving.
Dudung also commended the facility’s menu innovations. Beyond using a digital system for menu planning, the kitchen offers rice alternatives for beneficiaries who prefer other options — most notably a cassava-based burger made with microprotein from fermented mushrooms, which contains higher protein levels than conventional meat.

“With standards like this, I’m confident there won’t be any food poisoning incidents. I will bring this to the center and recommend to the Head of BGN that this kitchen becomes the benchmark for other SPPG facilities nationwide,” he added.
The KSP chief also noted the modern monitoring system that tracks employee activities, ingredient procurement, and daily operations. The kitchen’s wastewater treatment facility (IPAL) meets high standards using advanced technology.

He expressed hope that the Malang facility could serve as a pilot project and example for kitchens in other regions.
Dudung stressed the need for continuous evaluation of the MBG program, especially following several food poisoning cases reported in different areas. He said every incident must prompt improvements to ensure better service quality.
“The President’s directive is not just about providing food to children, but ensuring the meals deliver proper nutrition that supports their growth, development, and future intelligence,” he said.
Local Government to Strengthen Oversight
Malang Mayor Dr. Ir. Wahyu Hidayat MM said the city administration would tighten supervision over SPPG operations following new directives from the central government that grant greater authority to regional administrations.
“The Satgas team we formed has been monitoring the program, but now we have broader powers, including in coaching and oversight,” he explained.
The mayor added that local governments will also be able to impose sanctions on any SPPG facilities found violating regulations, which should help ensure the MBG program runs more effectively. (bas/ono)
