Jember, en.SERU.co.id – The Jember Regency Government continues to strengthen the downstream sector of local tobacco commodities. The move aims to increase the selling value of Jember products and expand their competitiveness in international markets.
Regent Muhammad Fawait, known as Gus Fawait, directly inspected production activities during a visit to the PT Bin Cigar factory. He expressed appreciation for the success of the local cigar industry in penetrating global markets and elevating the region’s name on the world stage.
“This achievement proves that tobacco down streaming in Jember has successfully transformed raw commodities into high-value products,” said Gus Fawait on Saturday, 19 September 2026.
Six cigar manufacturers currently operate in Jember Regency. The majority of local cigar production is directed toward overseas markets.
“The export allocation from Jember currently reaches 90 percent of the total cigar production,” he said.
Jember’s cigar exports now reach nearly 45 countries, including the United States, China, ASEAN nations, the Middle East, and European countries such as Greece and Germany. The products are also available in duty-free shops across 10 countries.
“Besides focusing on boosting export performance, the Jember Regency Government also pays serious attention to the welfare and protection of farmers at the upstream level,” he explained.
“The support schemes we prepare include health insurance, employment social security through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, as well as plans to provide assistance for agricultural supporting facilities for farmers,” he added.

Market intervention and facilitation efforts are not limited to tobacco and cigars. They also cover other key regional commodities that contribute to foreign exchange earnings.
“Besides tobacco and cigars, intervention and market expansion facilitation are also directed at other foreign exchange-contributing commodities such as coffee, edamame, chocolate, and UMKM craft products,” he said.
Gus Fawait reaffirmed the regency government’s commitment to standing alongside local businesses and farmers so that Jember’s flagship products can continue to gain global recognition.
“The Regency Government is determined to continue accompanying and facilitating market expansion for all these superior commodities,” he concluded.
