Jember, en.SERU.co.id – The Kirab Pawai Budaya Ancak Agung procession in Jember Regency achieved a remarkable double success on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The cultural parade broke two records recognized by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) at the same time.
The two records are the Tallest Ancak made from Suwar-Suwir and the Largest Number of Ancak Agung in a single procession.
MURI representative Ari Andriani confirmed that the officially verified number of participants surpassed previous marks.
“After our verification yesterday morning, there were 527 Ancak Agung,” Andriani said on Sunday (August 23, 2026).
She explained why MURI recognized the achievements as world records and the minimum threshold applied by the organizing committee.
“We confirmed both results as world records because they successfully highlight Jember’s local wisdom. Although the committee proposed a target of 1,000, MURI set a minimum increase of 10 percent above the previous record of 449 ancak as the threshold for breaking the record, taking into account the short preparation time,” she said.
Impressed by the strong public enthusiasm, MURI issued an open challenge to the Jember Regency Government for next year’s event.
“MURI challenges the Jember Regency Government to raise the number of participants to at least 1,000 ancak for next year’s procession,” Andriani added.
Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait emphasized that the records are not merely about numbers. They stand as a symbol of community togetherness in Jember.

“This is not just about records. It is about how we preserve tradition and the spirit of mutual cooperation among the people of Jember,” he said.
Responding to MURI’s challenge, the regent, popularly known as Gus Fawait, welcomed the target with optimism and expressed confidence that a grander festival can be staged in the future.
“Next year we want it to be even bigger, with a target of 1,000 ancak. Hopefully this spirit will continue to grow and become a source of pride for the people of Jember,” he stated.
This year’s procession carried the theme “Preserving Tradition, Strengthening Brotherhood, Elevating the Dignity of Jember.” Hundreds of participants from regional government offices, community health centers, villages and schools paraded ancak filled with local agricultural produce and traditional snacks.
One of the main attractions was the tallest ancak, standing 3.7 meters high and assembled from 1,600 packages (approximately 32,000 pieces) of Jember’s signature suwar-suwir. In the competition among participants, SMPN 6 Jember took first place, followed by Roxy Mall in second and SMPN 2 Jember in third. (sgt/mzm)
