Jember, en.SERU.co.id – The Jember Regency Government held the 2026 Regional Tax Heroes Award at Pendopo Wahyawibawagraha on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The event served as a platform to appreciate business operators, individual taxpayers, and local officials who consistently fulfill their tax obligations.
Regent Muhammad Fawait stated that public compliance in paying taxes has directly driven a surge in Regional Original Revenue (PAD). He claimed that Jember Regency’s PAD in 2025 grew rapidly by 32.36 percent, the highest rate in East Java.
“Jember Regency’s PAD growth in 2025 was the highest in East Java Province at 32.36 percent,” said Gus Fawait, as he is popularly known, on Monday, 21 September 2026.
The regent emphasized that this strong PAD performance was achieved purely through public awareness, without any adjustment to local tax rates.
“Jember recorded the highest growth in East Java without raising any taxes. This means there are highly compliant taxpayers in Jember,” he said.
According to Fawait, local taxes form the main pillar of the regional budget (APBD) to finance spending and development. For this reason, the Jember Regency Government gave special recognition to corporations that have consistently paid their taxes for three consecutive years.
“I just whispered to the Head of Bapenda, please give additional incentives next year or by the end of this year to those who receive appreciation for tax compliance,” he explained.
For businesses that comply with taxes, Fawait guaranteed that the regency government would ease all permit-related processes. He encouraged entrepreneurs not to hesitate to report any obstacles they encounter on the ground.
“Those who perform well and comply with taxes must be given easier processing for permits and other matters,” he added.
