Malang, en.SERU.co.id — President Prabowo Subianto has underscored that Indonesia’s military (TNI) and national police (Polri) are not only guardians of national defense and security but are also vital partners in accelerating the country’s food and energy self-sufficiency.
Speaking at a grand harvest event in Kawasan Lanud Abd Saleh, Malang, on Friday (17/7/2026), Prabowo emphasized the deep connection between the security forces and ordinary Indonesians.
“TNI and Polri are the true children of the people. They must always stand in the midst of the people. The hardships faced by the people are also the hardships of TNI and Polri. We must all unite, work hand in hand, and take real, bold steps to overcome these challenges,” he said.
The president pointed to the large-scale harvest of corn, sugarcane, soybeans, and rice at the event as clear proof of the security forces’ expanding role beyond traditional duties.
He praised the tireless efforts of ministers, military and police leaders, and senior officials who have been working around the clock.
“I’m proud to see everyone working with such speed and dedication, some have even ended up in the hospital from exhaustion,” Prabowo added.
Focus on Self-Sufficiency and People’s Welfare
Prabowo said his administration is determined to optimize all available resources to deliver rapid improvements in people’s lives.
“We know the Indonesian people have waited too long for a better life, especially in a rich and powerful nation like ours. That’s why this government is committed to achieving the highest targets in the shortest possible time,” he said.
He announced that Indonesia has already achieved food self-sufficiency and is now targeting energy and water self-sufficiency, so every citizen has access to clean water.
The president also expressed his commitment to eradicating hunger and extreme poverty, even if it means tightening budgets, including defense and police allocations.
“We will save and be more efficient with our budget. If necessary, we’ll reduce defense and police funding to eliminate poverty. Because the best defense is a strong and prosperous people,” Prabowo stressed.
He added that TNI and Polri personnel are now actively engaging with farmers, fishermen, and rural communities across the country.

Palm Oil to Solar Breakthrough
During the event, Prabowo also highlighted a significant energy innovation: the successful production of solar fuel from palm oil. Starting this July, Indonesia has stopped importing solar, with domestic production now meeting national needs.
“It’s better that the money stays in Indonesia and benefits our palm oil farmers,” he said.
The event showcased both the tangible results of the government’s food security drive and the broader economic potential of Indonesia’s palm oil industry. (wul/mzm)
