The band kicked things off explosively with “Pejantan Tangguh,” complete with fireworks, sending the crowd into a frenzy. “You guys don’t know this one yet, right? This is our new single, ‘Sederhana,’ which we’ll be releasing very soon,” frontman Akhdiyat Duta Modjo (Duta) told the audience after performing the track.

The concert featured an impressive stage setup, complete with striking LED visuals and dynamic lighting, transforming Lapangan Rampal into a memorable music experience. The main area comfortably held the target crowd of around 20,000, while the tall stage and large screens also benefited local UMKM vendors, ride-hailing drivers, and nearby residents who couldn’t get tickets.

Full Lineup and Cross-Generational Appeal

Sheila on 7 performed with their complete current lineup: Duta on vocals, Eross Candra on lead guitar, Adam Muhammad Subarkah on bass, Elang Nuraga on rhythm guitar, Bounty Ramdhan on drums, and Duta’s eldest daughter Aishameglio Duta Chiara (Aisha) on backing vocals.

The setlist spanned multiple eras, delighting fans across generations — from Gen Z teens to millennials, Gen X, and even those in their 70s, roughly the same age as the band members. Highlights included “Hari Bersamanya,” “Film Favorit,” “Memori Baik,” and “Sephia,” during which Duta invited the crowd to take selfies together.

When Duta asked how many were seeing Sheila on 7 live for the first time, nearly half the field raised their hands.

After delivering the 10 songs originally planned for their 45-minute slot, the band decided to extend the set to fill their full 90-minute performance. Duta was heard joking with Eross and Adam about adding more tracks, and the band happily obliged, much to the crowd’s delight.

They dug deep into their catalog, playing older favorites like “Dan,” “Berai” (from their 1999 debut album), “Lapang Dada,” “Saat Aku Lanjut Usia,” “Pemuja Rahasia,” “Kisah Klasik,” and “Itu Aku.” By the 17th song, the audience still couldn’t get enough.

“Thank you so much, Malang. You guys are incredible!” Duta said in closing, as the band waved goodbye and Bounty tossed his drumsticks into the crowd.

Fellow Artists Impressed by the Crowd

Other performers also felt the strong energy from the audience. Fiersa Besari, who played before Sheila on 7, admitted he was moved by the response.

“It’s really heartwarming. I’ve been on hiatus for a while, but they still know all the lyrics. There are millions of songs out there, yet they remember mine and the other artists’ too. It’s a blessing,” he said after performing eight songs.

Fiersa admitted feeling nervous performing in front of such a passionate Sheila on 7 crowd but was relieved and satisfied once he finished. “It was a mix of emotions, but when it was over, it felt like a huge weight lifted,” he added with a laugh. (rhd)
