Batu, en.SERU.co.id – The Tourism City of Batu once again presents an adrenaline attraction for tourists. Located in the Batu Night Spectacular (BNS) area, the newest mystery ride titled “Gudang Angker Lawang” has been officially launched. This attraction is ready to open to the public starting November 1, 2026, to pamper lovers of mystical exploration and dark history.

The owner as well as creator of the attraction, Oge Arthemus, conveyed that this attraction differs from the concept of conventional haunted houses in Indonesia.

“Initially I saw that haunted houses in Indonesia are just like that, like night markets that merely have pocong running after people or people carrying saws. Well, Gudang Angker Lawang is an experience where visitors who want to adventure can feel a real exploration based on historical. There is history, there is a story, and the exploration sequence is clear,” said Oge to SERU.co.id.

Different from haunted houses in general that carry the background of an old house, this attraction utilizes the concept of a spice storage warehouse that was used as a cover for a cruel experimental place. The storyline raises the dark tale of the figure Betric, a Dutch noni who arrived in Batavia in the 1800s era. Betric was known as a spice trader, yet behind that she enjoyed conducting cruel experiments as well as murders inside her hidden warehouse.

“Inside, visitors will see medieval torture tools from the Dutch VOC era. In the story background, this place is also the forerunner of the existence of the Lawang Mental Hospital,” explained Oge.

The main excellence of this attraction lies in the authenticity of the properties presented. Visitors can directly witness various authentic torture instruments, such as torture hooks up to historical relic books related to Betric’s traces. The presence of this attraction is also a collaboration with Cafe Golekan adding to the ranks of its mystical attractions.

“Gudang Angker Lawang has established a collaboration with Cafe Golekan. Through this cooperation, a number of spiritual doll collections from Cafe Golekan are presented directly as part of the attraction’s interior decoration. One of the collections that is also displayed to strengthen the eerie atmosphere is the Annabelle doll,” he said.

The attraction which is strategically located near the Food Garden area of BNS stands on a land area of 400 m². The management applies a pure manual exploration concept with full walking (walk-through) without using an explorer train attraction.

“Here we are purely walking. There is no rigid time limit or distance limit when entering. Visitors are free to look at the objects inside, read the history, or feel the sensation themselves in each corner. The duration inside depends on the visitors themselves, because every turn presents a different surprise,” added Oge.

The presence of Gudang Angker Lawang is expected to become a magnet for new tourists in Batu City approaching the year-end holiday. Especially for visitors who long for entertainment with an educational-historical concept wrapped in a tense atmosphere.

“Yes, hopefully this can become a choice for vacationing in Batu City approaching the end of the year,” he concluded.
