Boyolali, en.SERU.co.id – The Police Medical Team (Dokes) of the Central Java Regional Police collected DNA samples from the families of two Boyolali residents who were victims of the KM Virgo Transport 8 ship sinking. The sampling took place at Boyolali Police Headquarters on Tuesday afternoon, 22 September 2026.
The two residents whose family samples were taken are Deny Dwi S and Danang Heriyanto, both from Candi Village in Ampel District. At the time of the incident, they worked as truck expedition crew members traveling to Banjarmasin. The sampling process was quick, taking less than five minutes per person.
Hery Priyatmoko, the younger brother of Danang Heriyanto, expressed the remaining hope despite the lack of clear news about his sibling.
“There is still no information. We can only wait. But we hope my brother is found safe,” said Hery Priyatmoko when met by reporters.
He added that his brother had contacted his wife around 11.00–12.00 WIB on Saturday, 19 September 2026. At that time, Danang asked for money to be sent so he could buy WiFi access on the ship.
AKP dr Derry Setiawan, Head of the DVI Subdivision of the Central Java Police Medical Division, explained that the sampling was carried out at the request of the East Java Regional Police, which is handling the Virgo 8 case. Because both victims no longer have a father, samples were taken from their mother and one sibling as the closest relatives.
“For each of them we took DNA, blood, and saliva samples,” said dr Derry.
The collected samples will later be sent to the National Police Medical Team to be matched with DNA data from recovered victims. So far, the team has taken 20 samples from various regions, including Solo, Jepara, Kudus, and Boyolali. Sampling from the families of victims in Sragen will follow next. (wbn/mzm)
