Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id — Members of the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) dispersed after meeting with House of Representatives leaders. The House leadership has committed to completing the Asset Confiscation Bill no later than December 15, 2026. AMPB is demanding that the commitment be fulfilled and that House leaders resign if the target is not met.
AMPB coordinator Supriyono, also known as Botok, read out a statement from House leaders after the meeting. One of the points confirmed the commitment to finalize the Asset Confiscation Bill by 15 December 2026 at the latest.
“The House leadership stated its readiness to resign from office if the bill cannot be completed by that date,” Botok said on Thursday (August 27, 2026).
In addition to pressing for the passage of the Asset Confiscation Bill, AMPB called for the death penalty to be imposed on corruptors.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal and Saan Mustopa, as well as Deputy Chair of Commission VI Andre Rosiade. From AMPB, Supriyono and several other representatives delivered their aspirations directly.
“We earlier asked permission to leave the plenary session in order to receive our friends from AMPB,” Dasco said as he opened the meeting.
Besides discussing the Asset Confiscation Bill, Dasco also assured the group that the House would coordinate with law enforcement agencies to guarantee the safety of the protesters. The guarantee covers not only the duration of the demonstration but also the period when participants leave the site.
Disappointment over Speaker’s absence
During the meeting, AMPB representative Teguh questioned the absence of House Speaker Puan Maharani. In his view, the Speaker’s presence was important as a sign of the legislature’s commitment to resolving the Asset Confiscation Bill.
“What we actually asked for was a meeting with the Speaker, but she was not present at the plenary session. And I state that I am disappointed,” Teguh said.
He argued that the absence of House leaders from such an important agenda reflected a lack of attention to public aspirations.
“The plenary session is the most important sitting, yet she did not attend. This amounts to taking the state lightly. Going forward, I ask that all members attend every session. This is about thinking of the country, yet she was not there,” he said.
