Malang, en.SERU.co.id — Efforts to tackle the forest and land fire emergency in West Kalimantan have been strengthened further. A total of 200 Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel were officially deployed from Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base in Malang on Monday night (25 August 2026).
The combined contingent departed aboard two Indonesian Air Force aircraft. A Hercules transport plane with tail number A-1344 carried 130 personnel from the BKO Task Force of Infantry Battalion TP 534/VD Sidodadi in Lawang. A Boeing 737 with tail number A-7308 transported around 70 additional personnel.
Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base Commander Air Commodore Reza R.R. Sastranegara S.Sos., M.A.P., M.N.S.S. was present at the airfield to oversee preparations. From the personnel manifest to flight readiness checks, the process ran smoothly without disruption.
“Abdulrachman Saleh Air Force Base is committed to providing optimal support for every humanitarian mission and disaster response operation for the safety of the public,” Air Commodore Reza R.R. Sastranegara said during the departure.
The deployment represents a concrete and rapid response by the armed forces to ease the burden on communities affected by forest fires and haze in West Kalimantan.
“With the addition of these 200 personnel, the handling of fire hotspots on the ground is expected to become more effective and better coordinated with other task force elements,” he added. (dik/ono)
