Batu, en.SERU.co.id — A tourism certification body has completed a major verification process for 22 new competency schemes, expanding its ability to train and certify professionals across Indonesia’s growing tourism sector.
Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi Pariwisata Semesta Nusantara (LSP PARESTA) held the national Witness activity for scheme expansion over two days, July 25–26, 2026. Sessions took place at Hotel Rayz in Malang and Basecamp Kaliwatu in Batu.
Director Eko Mujiono said the effort aims to broaden the range of tourism competency certifications available in Indonesia. The goal is to better match the needs of an industry that continues to expand rapidly in the Greater Malang area, East Java, and nationwide.
“This direct verification was closely evaluated by two licensing assessors from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP),” Eko explained. The assessors were Dr. KH. Muhammad Nut Hayid, who led the team, and Nurul Fajriyah.
The process was split into two stages. On July 25 at Hotel Rayz Malang, assessors reviewed 14 schemes focused on hotel service standards, culinary skills, food and beverage service, and advanced guiding.
The second stage took place July 26 at Basecamp Kaliwatu in Batu. There, the remaining eight schemes covered adventure tourism, ecotourism, tourism villages, and recreational parks. One practical session involved assessment for the rafting guide scheme.

With the new schemes approved, LSP PARESTA now manages a total of 31 official certification programs. Eko said the expanded portfolio is expected to raise the quality, professionalism and competitiveness of tourism workers, particularly in Batu, Greater Malang, East Java, and at the national level.
Next, the organization plans to roll out assessments in several East Java cities. Priority areas include hospitality and guiding roles such as mountain guides, ecotourism guides, and general guides.
Management is currently focused on socializing the new schemes and competency test materials, along with verifying testing locations. These steps aim to keep assessment quality high and fully aligned with BNSP regulations. (dik/mzm)
