Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id – Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby as a suspect in a bribery scandal involving the appointment of the district’s Regional Secretary (Sekda).
Suhardiman is accused of demanding a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S worth Rp2.05 billion as a condition for selecting a preferred candidate for the position.
“There were two main candidates: Fahdiansyah, who served as Assistant I to the Kuansing Regional Secretariat, and Zulkarnain, who was Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR). Suhardiman allegedly demanded one unit of Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S if they wanted to be selected as Sekda,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein as quoted by detikcom, Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Only Zulkarnain agreed to the demand. He purchased the vehicle on credit with monthly installments of around Rp46.5 million for five years. However, since his financial records did not qualify for the loan, the application was submitted under the name of Ardiles, Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant.
“The KPK has named three people as suspects: Suhardiman Amby as Regent of Kuantan Singingi, Zulkarnain as Regional Secretary of Kuantan Singingi, and Ardiles as Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant,” Achmad added.

KPK Detains Cilacap Regent in Major Sting Operation Over Alleged Project Bribery
The case came to light following a KPK sting operation that began on Monday (29/6/2026). Suhardiman and Zulkarnain surrendered to authorities on Tuesday evening, June 30, at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
In total, the KPK detained 10 individuals — nine in Kuantan Singingi and one in Jakarta. Authorities also seized electronic evidence, financial transaction documents, and one vehicle believed to be connected to the case.
Regarding previous allegations, Achmad stated:
“This is not the first time Zulkarnain has done this. When he was still serving as agency head, he also gave something to Suhardiman, who was then the acting regent.” (aan/mzm)
