Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id — Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this September, along with its first foldable iPhone. The standard iPhone 18 models, however, won’t arrive until spring 2027.

Reliable sources including Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman say this year’s Pro models won’t bring a major redesign. Instead, Apple is focusing on practical improvements to the camera, battery life, and overall efficiency.

The new Pro models will look very similar to the iPhone 17 Pro, keeping the same triple-camera layout with the horizontal camera bar. Screen sizes remain unchanged at 6.3 inches for the Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.

One noticeable improvement will be a much smaller Dynamic Island, made possible by moving some Face ID parts under the display. Apple is also upgrading to more efficient LTPO+ OLED panels that should deliver brighter screens — over 3000 nits — and better battery savings. A rich Dark Cherry color is expected to be the hero shade this year, joined by Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver.

The biggest story on the camera side is the new variable aperture on the main 48MP sensor. This is a first for iPhone and should let users adjust the lens opening for better control over depth of field and lighting, similar to how DSLR cameras work. All rear cameras are likely to be 48MP, and the camera bump might be slightly thicker. The Camera Control button is also expected to be simpler.

Inside, the A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s 2nm process is predicted to offer about 15% better performance while being more power-efficient. Apple’s own third-generation C2 modem will replace Qualcomm’s, which could improve connectivity. Battery capacity is another highlight, with the Pro Max rumored to go beyond 5,000mAh — possibly reaching 5,200mAh on eSIM-only versions. That, combined with the efficient new chip and display, could result in noticeably longer battery life.

Other expected features include stronger MagSafe, a new frosted ceramic shield on the back, and basic web browsing via satellite.

Pricing details haven’t been confirmed, but early indications point to Apple keeping Pro prices relatively stable. As usual, the phones should go on sale shortly after the September event.

“Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously described the iPhone 18 Pro as a relatively minor update compared to last year, more like an ‘S’ year,” one report noted.

Ming-Chi Kuo, meanwhile, has been consistent in highlighting the camera upgrade. He was among the first to predict the variable aperture system would arrive on the 2026 Pro models.

Of course, all this information is still based on leaks and supply chain reports, so some details could change before launch. Still, the iPhone 18 Pro is shaping up to be a well-rounded update that delivers exactly what many people have been hoping for.
