Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The 27th edition of the legendary Malang SuperFight (MSF) is set to revive the national boxing ring at Bhumi Arema on 14-15 November 2026. The event is a collaboration between the Indonesian Boxing Commission (KTI) Malang Raya and the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) of Malang City.

Chair of Pertina Kota Malang Muhammad Anas Muttaqien said the return of MSF aims to restore Malang City’s glory as one of the benchmarks of national boxing. Boxing complements the distinctive local wisdom of Malang City known by the term 5B: balbalan (football), benbenan (cockfighting), balapan (racing), bantengan (traditional bull performance), and bogeman (boxing).

“We want to restore Malang City as a national boxing benchmark and produce promising athletes at both national and international levels. At the same time, it serves as a positive form of education for the younger generation so that their energy is channeled into achievement rather than involvement in street brawls,” said Sam Anas, as the Chair of Commission C of the Malang City DPRD is popularly known, on Sunday evening, 27 September 2026.

MSF 27 as First Event for Pertina Management 2026-2030

He noted that the 27th MSF serves as the first event for the Pertina management of the 2026-2030 period. It is also part of his leadership duties together with the Pertina board in making Malang City’s boxing sport more successful at the East Java, national, and international levels. The event is supported by the Malang City Government through the Youth and Sports Agency (Disporapar) and the Malang City KONI.

“We request support from seniors, the boxing community, and all boxing enthusiasts in Greater Malang to bring Malang City back as a boxing benchmark in Indonesia,” said the politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB).

MSF 27 Adopts Sportainment Concept and Talent Search

In a similar vein, Chair of KTI Malang Raya Ade Herawanto said this year’s boxing package will appear fresher and more contemporary with a sportainment (sports and entertainment) concept. The 27th Malang SuperFight is designed not merely as a competitive achievement event, but as a people’s sports festival.

“MSF 27 will not only present amateur and professional boxing matches, but also music concerts and dance competitions. It is a collaborative performance of hard sports and creative entertainment,” explained Sam Ade D’Kross, as he is popularly known.

He added that the 27th MSF serves as a warm-up event and a search for young talent in preparation for several prestigious events such as Popda 2026 and Porprov 2027. The organizers are collaborating with several communities, including modern combat sports with Fight For Glory that accommodates the kickboxing trend, KidStriking for children, and others.

“The packaging of MSF 27 is intended to attract the interest of the younger generation and all segments of society more widely, from campuses and Greater Malang to the national level. It is in line with the ‘Ngalam Tahes’ program that is included in the Malang 1,000 Events calendar,” he stressed.

In the long term, Pertina and KTI Malang Raya plan to increase the number of community-based boxing rings in the middle of society. These will range from areas under flyovers to residential neighborhoods in order to attract young talent more closely and evenly. At the same time, the organizers will also conduct a data collection of boxing gyms in Malang City.
