Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has left open the possibility of using compulsory measures against Andi Saiful Haq, special staff to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni, if he fails to appear again for questioning in a corruption investigation linked to the release of Limited Production Forest areas in Kuantan Singingi, Riau. Andi did not attend a scheduled witness examination on Friday (August 21, 2026). Investigators are examining alleged arrangements involving forest areas and the alleged provision of money to Raja Juli Antoni.
Andi had been scheduled to give testimony as a witness at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building on Friday. However, the special staff member did not respond to the investigators’ summons. Acting KPK Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said investigators would first assess the reason for his absence.
“If the reason is proper and reasonable, we will certainly consider rescheduling,” Taufik said on Sunday (August 23, 2026).
If the reason is not acceptable, the KPK may take further legal steps. One option is to compel Andi’s appearance.
KPK examines links between Kuantan Singingi local government and the Ministry of Forestry
The examination of Andi forms part of the expansion of an investigation that has already implicated Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby. Investigators are looking into the process of obtaining recommendations for the release of Limited Production Forest areas, which is alleged to have involved both the local government and the Ministry of Forestry.
Investigators want to determine the extent to which the recommendations issued by Suhardiman as regional head were connected to processes and authorities at the Ministry of Forestry. For that reason, Andi Saiful Haq was summoned to provide information on the matter.
In addition to the relationship between local government recommendations and the Ministry of Forestry, investigators are also examining a series of meetings between Suhardiman and Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni.
The KPK has established that the two met in April, May and on June 2, 2026. The substance of each meeting is now under closer scrutiny.
Investigators are also tracing alleged payments connected to the forest area release process. One focus is a sum of 14,000 Singapore dollars that is said to have been handed by Suhardiman in an envelope to Raja Juli during the meeting on June 2, 2026.
In the same case, the KPK is still examining a discrepancy of 2,000 Singapore dollars from the amount reportedly contained in the envelope. (aan/mzm)
