Jakarta, en.SERU.co.id – The Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) or Sembako Program for the third stage of 2026 covering the July–September period has begun to be distributed gradually to Beneficiary Families (KPM). As of August 5, 2026, more than 12 million KPM have already received the assistance. Families that have not yet received the aid are not necessarily removed from the program, as the disbursement process is still ongoing and data changes follow the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN).

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, said that the distribution of social assistance for the third quarter of 2026 is still in progress for both the Family Hope Program (PKH) and food assistance.

“The distribution of social assistance in the third quarter is still continuing to this day. More than 7 million KPM have already been served for PKH. Then more than 12 million KPM for non-cash food assistance or sembako aid,” Gus Ipul said, as quoted from the Ministry of Social Affairs website on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

18.2 Million KPM Targeted for the Sembako Program

In the third quarter of 2026, the total number of Sembako Program recipients stands at 18,258,834 KPM. This figure consists of 15,215,415 KPM who continue their recipient status from the second quarter and 3,043,419 KPM whose status was transferred following the data updating process.

Meanwhile, PKH recipients in the same period total 10,001,753 KPM. Changes in the number of recipients do not always mean someone has been removed from the program. Recipient data continues to be updated based on the socio-economic conditions of each family.

Therefore, members of the public who have not yet received stage 3 BPNT are advised to check their status first, particularly before concluding that their assistance has been stopped.

How to Check BPNT Stage 3 Recipients for 2026

The public can independently check their social assistance recipient status using their 16-digit national identity card (NIK). Checking can be done through the official page cekbansos.kemensos.go.id with the following steps:

  1. Open the page cekbansos.kemensos.go.id.
  2. Enter the 16-digit NIK according to the identity card.
  3. Enter the letter code that appears in the box.
  4. If the code is unreadable, use the refresh icon to obtain a new code.
  5. Click Search Data.
  6. Check the search results to find out the social assistance membership status.

Social assistance recipient data currently refers to the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). By using updated socio-economic data, recipient status can change according to the results of the updating process.

Who Has the Opportunity to Receive BPNT?

The targeting of social assistance is carried out by considering welfare deciles within DTSEN. The system divides the population into 10 groups based on socio-economic conditions.

Decile 1 is the group with the lowest 10 percent welfare level, while decile 10 is in the top 10 percent group. For the Sembako Program and PKH, families in deciles 1–4 or the bottom 40 percent of the population can be proposed as assistance recipients.

Meanwhile, families in decile 5 can be proposed as participants in the Health Insurance Contribution Assistance (PBI-JK) scheme.

Decile determination is not based solely on income. The government uses a number of socio-economic indicators, including occupation, education level, housing conditions, electricity capacity and asset ownership.

Through this mechanism, social assistance recipients are determined not only on the basis of old data but also by taking into account the latest socio-economic conditions.

Not Yet Disbursed Does Not Mean Removed

For members of the public who are recorded as recipients but have not yet received stage 3 BPNT, the government is still providing room, given that distribution is being carried out in stages with a target completion by August 2026.

The public needs to review the results of the data updating process and their welfare decile position, especially after distribution is completed and recipient status changes or is no longer recorded. Checking through the official Ministry of Social Affairs page is the first step to confirm whether the NIK is still listed as a Sembako Program recipient. (aan/mzm)
