Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Universitas Brawijaya (UB) has achieved a significant milestone by breaking into the global top 600 for employability in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) 2026. This accomplishment reflects the university’s strong commitment to producing graduates who are work-ready and globally competitive.
Hendrix Yulis Setyawan, Head of UB’s Global Partnership and Reputation Unit (UPT), announced that UB secured the 567th position worldwide in this indicator. Nationally, UB ranks sixth among Legal Entity State Universities (PTNBH) in Indonesia.
“Employability has become one of the most important benchmarks because it measures how well graduates can adapt and compete in the global job market. This achievement demonstrates UB’s strengthened strategy in aligning education with industry needs,” said Hendrix on Saturday (4/4/2026).
He explained that the QS WUR assessment does not focus on a single aspect but provides a comprehensive evaluation by combining various components, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-student ratio, and research productivity.
“In the ranking process, QS WUR analyzes millions of scientific publications and gathers perceptions from hundreds of thousands of academics and employers worldwide. This makes the results highly credible in reflecting the quality of both graduates and the institution,” he added.
Hendrix noted that UB’s success in reaching the global ranking was driven by several strategic initiatives, such as developing industry-based curricula, enhancing internship programs, and expanding international collaborations.
“Additionally, strengthening student exchange programs has played a key role in boosting graduates’ competitiveness, not only at the national level but also globally with reputable universities,” he explained.
Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono, Director of the Career Development and Alumni Directorate at UB, added that the university actively leverages its alumni network as a strategic asset. Many UB alumni now hold important positions both domestically and internationally.
“The involvement of alumni across various sectors serves as valuable capital in enhancing the university’s reputation, particularly in the eyes of the global industry. This effort also strengthens the employer reputation indicator used in the QS assessment,” he said.

Furthermore, the QS WUR ranking serves not only as global recognition but also as an important evaluation tool for higher education institutions. Through this data, universities can identify their strengths and areas that still need improvement.
“For prospective students, this achievement can serve as a valuable reference when choosing a university with clear career prospects. UB’s sixth-place national ranking in employability shows that the campus excels not only academically,” he emphasized.
He added that UB continues to produce graduates whose skills are highly relevant to industry demands, allowing them to enter the workforce quickly with short waiting periods.
“UB remains committed to strengthening the quality of education, research, and international collaboration to enhance global competitiveness and contribute to national development. We hope this achievement will motivate the entire academic community to continue innovating and maintaining high standards, so that UB can keep climbing the rankings and become a world-class university,” he concluded.
