Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Malang City Government and BPJS Kesehatan Malang Branch are matching and validating data for 46,153 National Health Insurance (JKN) participants. The joint effort aims to ensure coverage is accurate and properly targeted, especially for non-wage workers registered by the local government (PBPU Pemda), in line with current population records.

Hernina Agustin Arifin, head of BPJS Kesehatan Malang Branch, expressed full support for the city’s drive to improve the quality of JKN participant data. Her office will process registrations and reactivation of PBPU Pemda membership based on verified data officially submitted by the city government.

“BPJS Kesehatan fully supports the efforts of the Malang City Government in verifying and validating the data,” said Ina, as she is commonly known, during a press conference on Friday, August 28, 2026.

She stressed that the data matching is needed so JKN protection can be delivered accurately and on a sustainable basis. Residents are urged not to panic if they encounter issues with their membership status and should use official BPJS Kesehatan channels or coordinate with the city government.

“Most importantly, the public does not need to worry and should not easily believe information that has not been verified,” she emphasized.

To check administrative status, people who have activated the Digital Population Identity (IKD) can review their population data through that system. JKN membership status can be checked via the Mobile JKN app, official BPJS Kesehatan channels, or the dedicated PBPU Pemda and PBI JK membership checking services.

“If there is a problem with the NIK or the population data does not match, residents can go to the Malang City Disdukcapil office or the Merdeka Public Service Mall (MPP) bringing the necessary population documents,” she added.

Once population data is confirmed as active and correct, residents whose JKN status remains inactive can coordinate with their local kelurahan if they need health services. Applications will then be verified by the city government through the available mechanisms and, if the criteria are met, forwarded to BPJS Kesehatan for processing.

“The public can recheck their membership status after the process is completed through Mobile JKN, the BPJS Kesehatan Care Center 165, official BPJS Kesehatan service channels, or information from the kelurahan,” she said.

Agus Widodo SKM MKes, head of the Health Services Division at the Malang City Health Office, noted that the data matching is important because funding for PBPU Pemda membership comes from the city’s regional budget (APBD). The city needs to ensure that residents who meet the criteria continue to receive health protection according to the rules.

“The Malang City Government continuously verifies and validates data together with Disdukcapil. This step is part of organizing PBPU Pemda membership so that JKN financing through the APBD is given to residents who meet the criteria,” he said.

Agus added that the city has allocated JKN funding in the 2026 APBD, taking into account available local revenue sources, including the cigarette tax.

“The Malang City Government is committed to financing JKN membership for residents who meet the criteria, especially those who need health protection,” Agus stated.

Residents who find their JKN status inactive and require health services can contact their local kelurahan. The kelurahan can then facilitate the application through the city’s eJKN CEKAT application for verification and follow-up.

He stressed that a change to inactive status does not automatically mean permanent loss of health protection. For those who meet the criteria, there is a mechanism to reapply after verification is completed according to the rules.

“After the verification process is carried out, the public can be proposed again in accordance with the applicable provisions,” he added.

Dahliana Lusi Ratnasari MM, head of the Malang City Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil), said the data matching is carried out to ensure public services use accurate and up-to-date population data. Population records form one of the foundations for matching various government programs, including JKN membership.

“If residents find that their NIK is not yet active or there is a mismatch in population data, there is no need to worry. They can visit the Malang City Disdukcapil office or the Merdeka Public Service Mall (MPP) to obtain verification and data update services,” explained Lusi, as she is commonly known.

She reminded the public to update their population data whenever changes occur, such as a change of address, family status or other data elements. Those who have already activated the Digital Population Identity (IKD) can check the accuracy of their data through the application.

“Through the IKD, residents who have completed activation can view and match their population data digitally,” she said.

Malang City Government and BPJS Kesehatan encourage the public to help maintain the accuracy of both population and JKN membership data. Keeping records current is considered essential so that health services can be delivered to the right people while also safeguarding the sustainability of JKN financing through the regional budget.
