Malang, en.SERU.co.id – The Balai Besar Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS) will close the Ranu Kumbolo hiking trail on Mount Semeru during the 2026 Hari Raya Karo celebrations.
The 12-day closure is intended to respect the traditional customs of the Tengger community in Desa Ranupani.
“The Mount Semeru hiking trail will be temporarily closed starting Friday, August 7, 2026, until Tuesday, August 18, 2026,” Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, Head of TNBTS, said.
He added that the last ascent can be made on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and all hikers must return to Ranupani by Friday, August 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM WIB at the latest. The trail will reopen on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Registration remains available via the website bromotenggersemeru.id. Tourist visits and camping at Ranu Regulo will continue as normal during the period.

“For climbers affected by the 2025 eruption who chose a reschedule coinciding with the Karo Day closure period, they are given the opportunity to reschedule to another date,” he said.
Rudijanta stated that the rescheduling mechanism will be informed further through the WhatsApp number of the group leader registered at the time of booking.
He hopes the public, visitors, tourism operators, and all related parties will take note and implement this with full responsibility. (wul/mzm)
