Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully held the Brawijaya Career Expo 2026 on Saturday, bringing together 54 national and international companies in a major push to connect graduates with job opportunities.
The job fair, organized by UB’s Directorate of Career Development and Alumni (DPKA), aims to strengthen the link-and-match between higher education and the workforce.
Vice Rector III Dr. Setiawan Noerdajasakti SH MH, who officially opened the event, emphasized that the expo directly supports the government’s efforts to create millions of new jobs.
“We have to back initiatives like this. One of the best ways is ensuring university graduates are actually absorbed into the workforce,” Sakti said.

He noted that UB has consistently achieved around 85% employment rates for its alumni shortly after graduation. However, he stressed the need for stronger collaboration between universities and industry to better align graduate skills with real market demands.
Through the expo, companies can clearly communicate the competencies they’re looking for, while job seekers gain insight into what they need to prepare.
Diverse Opportunities
A total of 54 companies participated across various sectors, including banking, healthcare, plantations, manufacturing, and food and beverage. Several companies conducted direct recruitment on site.
This year’s expo took a different approach by involving UB’s Student Executive Board (EM and BEM) to introduce the professional world to students earlier in their studies.
“Student life and professional life are very different. We want students to get a clear picture of the working world long before they graduate,” explained DPKA Chairman Karuniawan Puji Wicaksono SP MP PhD.

In addition to job opportunities, the event featured scholarship providers, internship programs, and further study options. Representatives from the Japanese and French Consulates were present to promote educational and career development programs in their countries. Companies from Taiwan and Japan also offered overseas employment opportunities.
To ensure the credibility of international recruiters, UB partnered with Indonesia’s Ministry of Protection for Migrant Workers to verify participating companies.
Open to All Malang Graduates
Unlike previous years, the Brawijaya Career Expo 2026 was not limited to UB alumni. It welcomed graduates from all universities across Malang. Career centers from several local institutions also joined, including those from Universitas Ma Chung, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Universitas Merdeka (Unmer), Universitas Islam Malang (Unisma), and Politeknik Negeri Malang (Polinema).
Wicaksono expressed hope that this cross-university and industry collaboration would expand job access, boost graduate competitiveness, and create stronger connections between academia and the needs of the industrial sector. (bas/mzm)
