Malang, en.SERU.co.id – Bank Indonesia’s (BI) Malang Representative Office, in collaboration with the Malang City Government, has officially opened QRISMA FEST 2026 Vol. 1. The event, themed “Gema Kadjoe Tangan” (Echo of Kayutangan), aims to accelerate the digital payment transformation without abandoning cultural traditions.
Head of BI Malang Representative Office Indra Kuspriyadi revealed that QRIS transactions in Malang City have shown significant growth. Currently, the number of QRIS merchants in Malang City accounts for 68 percent of the total merchants across the seven regencies and cities under BI Malang’s jurisdiction.
“The transaction volume contribution stands at 73 percent. This indicates that Malang City is the most accelerated region in driving payment system digitalization,” Kuspriyadi stated.
He acknowledged that QRISMA FEST serves as a manifestation of cross-sector synergy in accelerating an inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital payment system. Furthermore, the event is part of the commemoration of Malang City’s 112th Anniversary.
“Through this festival, the public is encouraged to shift from cash to digital transactions without leaving behind the traditional values that form Malang City’s identity, particularly in the Kayutangan heritage area, which serves as the event venue,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Malang Mayor Wahyu Hidayat affirmed his full support for digital transformation in the payment sector. He noted that the Kayutangan area, as a symbol of the city’s history and culture, is capable of adapting to technological advancements.
“With the touch of BI, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the banking sector, this heritage area is able to transform into a digital payment system. This simultaneously supports the use of QRIS,” he said.
He added that the use of QRIS provides convenience not only for MSME players and merchants but also for tourists visiting the Kayutangan area.
The QRISMA FEST 2026 series runs from May 2–8, 2026, featuring various activities, including the Malang Merchant QRIS Race involving 1,120 merchants, the Kadjoe Tangan QRIS Race, workshops, and digital payment socialization.

Bank Indonesia hopes that this multi-stakeholder collaboration can massively expand QRIS usage in Malang City. The synergy is expected to boost trade activities, enhance MSME competitiveness, and strengthen the region’s economic growth.
